That’s right, our old friend aluminum. Did you know that Aluminum is one of the most easily recycled metals out there? Not only that, but recycling aluminum is actually 95% more energy efficient than processing new aluminum? That’s 20 times less energy! The energy saved by recycling just one aluminum can is enough to run a television for three hours! That is a huge environmental impact. And the good news doesn’t stop there, about 31% of the aluminum produced in the U.S. is already made from recycled material, and about 50% of all discarded aluminum is recycled. This may not seem like a lot, but it is an enormous percentage when compared to plastic, which can only boast about 6.5% recycled rate in the U.S.
